Frequently asked questions
Privacy, accepted files, devices, pricing: everything people ask us.
What can contributors see before the big day?
Only their own memory. The wall stays sealed: nobody sees anyone else’s memories until the recipient has opened their guest book. Only the organiser and the moderators see everything.
Who can see a guest book?
A guest book is not public: it can only be reached through its link. It is never offered to search engines. The recipient receives a secret link of their own.
Do contributors have to create an account?
No. They open the link or scan the QR code, write their memory, sign it with their first and last name, and send it. Only the organiser has an account.
What can be added as a memory?
A message of up to 600 characters, a photo (JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 10 MB) or a short MP4 or MOV video (35 seconds, 50 MB), and a voice note recorded with the microphone (30 seconds). They can be combined, except the video and the voice note: the video already has its own sound. Sentence ideas are offered to get started, and a preview shows the card before it is sent.
Which devices does it work on?
On phones, tablets and computers, in a recent browser: nothing to install. For the voice note, you need to allow the microphone. On iPhone, if a video is refused, set the camera to “Most Compatible” (Settings > Camera > Formats): the “High Efficiency” format is not supported everywhere.
Is there a minimum age to take part?
You must be 15 or over, or have a parent’s permission. A checkbox asks for it each time a memory is sent.
Can a memory be removed after it has been sent?
Yes, from the device that sent it, as long as the organiser has not marked the guest book as ready. After that, you need to go through the organiser. The organiser and their moderators can also remove an inappropriate memory.
How does the recipient receive their guest book?
When the organiser clicks “Give”, a secret link is created: they send it to the recipient by e-mail from their dashboard, or hand it over as a QR code. The experience begins with the first names of those who wrote, then the memories arrive one by one, with background music if the organiser chose some. End credits remind everyone who wrote and who prepared the guest book, before the full wall.
How long is the guest book kept?
The collection lasts 1 month from when it opens (7 days for the free booklet). The book then stays online for 3 months after it is sent to the recipient (2 weeks for the free booklet), or 6 months with the “Online + 3 months” option. You are warned before it goes offline. A free booklet is then deleted a month later; a paid booklet is kept until you ask for it to be deleted. To keep it forever, there is the PDF booklet. A removed memory is permanently deleted within 24 hours (48 hours if it was removed by a moderator). The details are in the privacy policy.
What is free and what is paid?
The 10-card booklet is free (7 days of collection, then 2 weeks online), to try with a small group. Booklets of 25 to 250 cards and the options will be paid, once only, with no subscription. During the beta, only the free booklet is available.
How do I get my guest book?
The free booklet is created in a few minutes with your e-mail address (if sign-ups are temporarily closed, the page offers the waitlist); you receive the link and the QR code to share, and you manage everything from your dashboard. For a larger booklet, join the waitlist: you will be told when sales open.
Can we prepare the guest book together?
Yes. From the dashboard (“Members” tab), invite other organisers, or moderators: they see the memories as they arrive and can remove those that are not suitable. The end credits can show “Guest book prepared by …” with your first names; a setting lets you hide it.
Does it cost anything to contribute?
No, it is free and needs no account. You take part from the link or QR code you received from the organiser: only the organiser chooses and pays for the booklet.
